Super RARE Danish Modern lamp by Verner Panton in 1977 and produced by Louis Poulsen the following year
VP EUROPA – super RARE Danish Modern lamp by Verner Panton in 1977 and produced by Louis Poulsen the following year – Danish lighting design at its best and in excellent vintage condition!
A breathtaking beauty comprised of a luxurious blown glass shade with a sleek two-part chrome-plated brass top. The mushroom-like shade is partly covered with a milky-white layer on the upper two-thirds and the sides, while the lower one-third is kept clear to gain optimal downward directed light without creating glare sideways or upwards. The chrome top conceals the suspension as well as the bulb socket, which is covered with a red coating to add warmth to the emitted light.
The combination of the mirroring chrome top and the extremely appealing blown glass shade make this an impressive light, that captures and commands your attention every time you ever see her!
Verner Panton created the VP Europa lighting series in 1977, consisting of two pendants, two table lamps and a floor lamp – all with the same key element, the absolutely beautiful blown glass shade. The VP EUROPA series was produced by Louis Poulsen from 1978 for a few years. The version I have up for sale is the small pendant – measuring 11.8″ in diameter and 8.3″ in height – a RARE version, not seen on the market very often and specially not in this excellent vintage condition!
All original, and no parts missing, including wire and black cord measuring 1 m (3′ 3.4″). Tested and fully functional. Also included is a new (never used) original Louis Poulsen black Top-Hat canopy. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective bag.
