Detailed information

GULDPENDEL, Chrome ceiling lights by Danish architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in 1958 and produced by Louis Poulsen – Scandinavian Modern pendant pair in RARE excellent vintage condition including their original boxes!

This minimalist pair of chromed aluminum ceiling lights are made up of a rounded body with open bottom and a long cylindrical top. The body features a band of tiny pierced holes towards bottom and a white inner coating for optimal reflection of the light. The shiny chrome outer combined with the pierced holes towards the bottom adds a luxurious touch to the otherwise tight design.

Inside the cylindrical top Vilhelm Lauritzen invented a brilliant yet simple (patented) system – a rise and fall suspension system, where you are able to shorten (without cutting) or lengthen the cord and at the same time hide the excess cord inside the cylinder so that the lights aesthetics are in no way compromised.

The GULDPENDEL is designed in 1956 for Folkets Hus (The People’s House – a house for the Labor Movement in Denmark) in Copenhagen. The light is part of the total interior designed by Vilhelm Lauritzen. Today Folkets Hus is a music venue, called VEGA. Originally the GULDPENDEL was designed with a brass lacquered almost golden surface – hence the name GULDPENDEL (Gold pendant). They were produced by Louis Poulsen, who produced numerous lighting designs by Vilhelm Lauritzen.

Minimalist and very stylish pendant pair that would suit any home – over a Nordic design table, a kitchen table or counter in the living, or perhaps you need to accent that special Danish Modern design piece in the living room.

This is a RARE chance to get a pair of collector’s grade Danish mid century design pieces – with their original boxes!

All original, but rewired with 3 m (9′ 10.1″) high end quality, white fabric cord – for safety and beauty – tested and fully functional.

Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective bag.
