Detailed information

CERAMIC SCONCE by Noomi Backhausen & Poul Brandborg for Søholm Stentøj in the 1960s – beautiful sculptural brown wall light in very good vintage condition.

A circular sconce comprised of a large ceramic bowl with the bulb socket placed in the center and two circular ceramic plates, one smaller than the other, placed to conceal the bulb socket and hold in place by a brass knob. The bowl has a rough sandy rim and a striped pattern near the center. The broad sandy rim and the striped pattern is echoed on the largest of the plates, this time glazed, whereas the smallest plate only have a glazed striped pattern. The beautiful glaze spans over dark brown to green and beige.

The two plates are placed to give way for light to be reflected of the large bowl, and the largest of the two plates have holes around the center to let light escape behind the smallest plate. When lit, the entire bowl are lit up and the plates creates the illusion of a floating circle in front of a large burning sun. It would be a beautiful vintage addition to a hall way as accent light or a sculptural wall lamp in the living room – where ever you place it, this light is sure to attract positive attention.

All original including 1,7 m (5′ 6.9″) gray cord, fitted with on/off switch placed at convenient height at the cord and Euro style two-pin plug – which can be fitted with a plug adapter, or is easily changed to your specific plug. Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective plastic cover.
