Pendant by Holm Sorensen. Danish mid-century vintage design. Cute 1960s very special eclectic brass lamp in very good condition.
TYPE 6404 – round brass pendant from the 1960s by Svend Aage Holm Sorensen. Collectors item – internationally sought after piece!
A small to medium sized pendant with a width of 11″ (28 cm) and a height of 8.7″ (22 cm), made up twelve leaf shaped serrated brass plates – acid treated and flame cut in Holm Sorensen’s special process (this is his signature), bringing out a wondrous specter of colors.
The bulb mount and socket is situated in the center of the lamp and every second leaf is placed offset and spaced so they give way for emitting a softly diffused light reflected between the leafs.
Offset leafs in a round shape and the acid-treated brass comes together and creates a glowing effect when lit, giving off a warm ambient illumination to the surroundings. The bottom is open to allow direct light to flow downward.
The light comes with brass chain to support the weight of the light and the brass canopy.
This sculptural 1960s pendant would be perfect over a small dinning table providing an authentic eclectic mid-century feel in the room or over a small sitting area – no matter where you place it – it is sure to attract positive attention and start conversations!
All original including the original brass chain (3′ 3.4″ / 1 m) to support the weight of the light, as well as the original brass canopy, complete with label sticker. Fitted with safety clamps for easy connection to existing wiring. Tested and fully functional.
