Large brass hanging lamp by Holm Sorensen. Rare 1960s very special eclectic brass lamp.
TYPE 6399 – large 3 tier brass pendant from the 1960s by Svend Aage Holm Sorensen. True collectors item – mostly found at auction!
Extremely attractive, rare and internationally sought after piece!
A large pendant with a width of 14.2″ (36 cm) and a height of 12.6″ (32 cm), made up three tiers of serrated brass “flaming” rings – acid-treated in Holm Sorensen’s special process (this is his signature), bringing out a wondrous specter of colors.
The bulb mount and socket is situated in the center of the lamp and the two sets of inner rings are spaced so they give way for emitting a softly diffused light reflected by the large outer ring, back on to the inner rings.
Shapes and acid-treatment come together to create the illusion of a suspended flaming fire, and as the warm ambient luminance is projected onto the surroundings, it is ever so gently interrupted by a pattern of lighter spots, escaping between the “flames” completing the feel. The bottom and top is open to allow direct light to flow down and up.
The light comes with all original parts including the original brass chain to support the weight of the light and the original brass canopy, complete with label sticker.
This gorgeous sculptural 1960s pendant would be perfect over a dinning table providing an authentic eclectic mid-century feel in the room or over a siting area – no matter where you place it – it is sure to attract positive attention and start conversations!
All original with 1 m (3′ 3.4″) plastic cord, and the original brass chain to support the weight of the light as well as the original brass canopy, complete with label sticker. Tested and fully functional.
