Large Danish Brutalist style brass hanging lamp by Svend Aage Holm Sorensen in the 1960s – in rare excellent vintage condition
TYPE 6395 – Danish Brutalist lamp from the 1960s by Svend Aage Holm Sorensen – in rare excellent vintage condition!
A large pendant made up twelve leaf shaped serrated brass plates – acid treated in Holm Sorensen’s special process (this is his signature), bringing out a wondrous spectre of colors. Shapes and acid-treatment come together to create the illusion of a suspended lighting flower, and as the bulb mount is placed in the centre of the lamp, the light is emitted through the leaves, creating a softly diffused illumination. As the warm ambient luminance is projected onto the surroundings, it is ever so gently interrupted by a pattern of lighter spots, escaping between the leaves. The bottom is open to allow direct light to flow downward. The original brass chain which support the weight of the lamp and the original brass canopy is included.
Pure Brutalist styled 1960s pendant, that would be perfect over a dinning table providing an authentic mid-century feel in the room or over a siting area – no matter where you place it – it is sure to attract positive attention and start conversations.
All original including the original brass chain, measuring 90 cm (2′ 11.4″), to support the weight of the light, as well as the original brass canopy, complete with label sticker, but rewired with 1,5 m (4′ 11.1″) high end black fabric cord – for safety and beauty. Tested and fully functional and fitted with safety clamps for easy connection to existing wiring. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective bag.
