Detailed information

Large IT DESK LIGHT by Louis Poulsen Design Team in 1972 – rare chrome architects table lamp in very good vintage condition.

Based on Poul Henningsens thoughts on an elliptical reflector, the IT DESK LIGHT was designed (post mortem) by Louis Poulsen’s in-house team led by Bent Gantzel-Boysen, and introduced in 1972.

An advertisement for the lamp dating from October that year ran as follows: “So Poul Henningsen’s concept of a work light with an elliptical reflector has become a reality. The elliptical form provides the best combination of maximum and evenly distributed light, and also creates a focal point, which can be very useful for demanding work or for the visually impaired.”

This rare chrome edition features the original 3-light system, which was designed to provide a choice of brightness by pressing the on/off button. One press on the button provided 60 Watt, press again and it provided 75 Watt and the third press of the button provided 100 Watt. The fourth press turned the light off.

Please note – for the 3-light system to work properly the light needs a special bulb, which is no longer in production (and not provided with this light). With a normal bulb, this vintage IT DESK LIGHT will therefore work a little different than your other desk lights. You need to press two times on the on/off button to turn the light on and two times to turn it off.

It also features a chrome screw-clamp for easy attachment to the table, which offers the opportunity to easily move the lamp around to suit your needs – just unscrew the clamp and screw the clamp on another table.

All original including 2,7 m (8′ 10.3″) white plastic cord, fitted with Euro style two-pin plug – which can be fitted with a plug adapter, or is easily changed to your specific plug. Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, labeled and packed in protective plastic cover.
