Blown glass pendant light by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Morup and Holmegaard Glassworks in 1963. Orange blown glass ceiling light
POMPEI, orange blown glass pendant light by Jo Hammerborg in 1963 and produced by Fog & Mørup in collaboration with Holmegaard Glassworks – truly amazing glass ceiling light in very good, near excellent vintage condition.
An elegantly shaped glass blown pendant – double layered glass with orange outer and white inner. The double layered glass ensures a completely glare free light, while the white inner ensures that the emitted light is evenly distributed along the sides and gently guide through the narrow open bottom. The orange outer turns warm orange, almost resembling a burning sun, and emits an intense warm glow.
The POMPEI is one of Jo Hammerborg’s first designs, and was released in 1963 in four colors; opal, gray, olive and this beautiful orange version. Each POMPEI is comprised of blown glass from Holmegaard Glassworks, and the combination of the blown glass and the very attractive shape demonstrates to perfection how glass and lighting can be almost magical together.
A timeless piece that creates a lovely warm atmosphere – in the living room hanging over a dining table or in a corner near sitting area, in the kitchen hanging over a kitchen counter or even in the bedroom – anywhere you need a warm and cozy touch.
