PH HAT (pair)
Pair of large wall lamps by Poul Henningsen in 1961 for Louis Poulsen. Two iconic white wall sconces in good vintage condition
PH HAT – pair of large wall lamps designed by Poul Henningsen (PH) in 1961, produced by Louis Poulsen – two iconic white wall sconces in good vintage condition.
A rounded spun steel shade with white wet lacquered outside and the most delicate rose color inside, held by an arm centered on a round wall mount. The shade is able to tilt upwards and downwards for easy control of light direction. This pair is the old version, which features the on/off switch on the bulb socket.
Though out his life it became a mission for Poul Henningsen to create and perfect “the glare-free light” – excluding sharp direct light emittance from the bulb, and directing the light to where it is needed, and at the same time casting off soft shadows.
The aim of PH HAT was to design a wall lamp that could be used as bedside lighting but also have other applications, like in the living room or a hallway.
The rose inner coating adds warmth and softness to the ambiance, while the adjustable shade directs the light where you need it. A beautiful wall lamp with endless uses in the modern home – as bedside lighting, lighting up in a hallway, stairway or a passageway space.
This gorgeous pair that I have up for sale is the large old version.
