Beautiful pair of brass hanging lights with brass suspensions by Fritz Schlegel in 1938 for LYFA, in very good vintage condition
P295 pendant pair by Danish architect Fritz Schlegel in 1938, produced by LYFA – Early Danish Mid Century design – beautiful pair of brass hanging lights with brass suspensions in very good vintage condition!
A pair of very stylish brass pendants, each comprised of a large bell-shaped brass shade lying on a internal brass frame and a diamond shaped brass rise-and-fall suspension with brass canopy. The lower half of the internal brass frame acts a handle – for when you need to adjust the hanging height – while the upper half of the brass frame holds the bulb socket. As a bonus feature, the bulb socket itself is also able to adjust in height, leaving you able to change the mood of the pendant – by rising the bulb socket, the emitted light is more dim, than if the bulb socket is lowered which leaves a more wide cone of light underneath the pendant and thus a more brighten light.
Fritz Schlegel is probably best known for his architecture, but in the 1930s and well into the 1940s he designed a number of pendants, often brass hanging lamps with suspension, like this P295 pendant. LYFA produced most of his light, if not all of them, and this P295 remained in production for more than four decades. It was not until the 1950s-1960s LYFA started mentioning Schlegels name next to his designs in their marketing.
This pair of P295 brass pendants are absolutely stunning and timeless pieces, that would complement any home – in the living room hanging beside each other, in the kitchen over the dining table or perhaps lighting up a staircase by hanging offset each other.
