Detailed information

POTTERY pendant by AXELLA Design in 1970s. Danish mid-century design – large hanging lamp in glazed pottery and orange glass inserts – true retro!

A beautiful large sized pendant, made in matte glazed pottery in brown tones, from deep rich brown to light brown almost sand colored, and decorated with orange glass inserts. The bulb mount is suspended in the middle by a chain, which also supports the weight of the lamp. The shade is attached to the bulb mount and the chain in three places to ensure perfect alignment when hung.

When lit, this beauty emits both upwards and downwards, while making the orange glass inserts glow all around the lamp. The glowing effect emphasizes the retro feel and creates a warm tone in ambiance.

It is hallmarked AXELLA design both inside near the top and as a sticker near the bottom on the outside. There is very little information about AXELLA design, except that is was founded by Danish ceramist Aksel Larsen around 1970. Some time around 1978 the name changes to AXELLA Keramik (Axella Pottery) and at later point to AXELLA design. The company closes in 1987.

Create an authentic retro feeling in the living room or bedroom, or maybe in the hallway welcoming guests – no matter where you place it – it is sure to attract positive attention and start conversation!
