GLASS SCONCES (pair)
Wall lamps by unknown Swedish producer, 1970s. Pair of vintage Scandinavian wall sconces with amber glass, cast iron and aluminum
GLASS SCONCES (pair), No. 4503 wall lamps by unknown Swedish producer in the 1970s – pair of wall lamps with crystal glass, cast iron and aluminum.
This pair of 1970s beauties features a drop shaped amber crystal glass shade, resting on an aluminum cylinder with a small clear crystal glass drop at the bottom. The aluminum cylinder is fixed to the beautiful ornamented cast iron wall mounting by a small metal arm.
The delicate amber crystal shade is filled with tiny air bubbles, giving it a fine frosted effect and the warm amber color plays really well with the cold aluminum and cast iron. When lit, the amber turns more golden and the tiny air bubbles leaves a scattered pattern of light on the surroundings. The beautiful details on the cast iron wall mounting stands become even more visible and noticeable, as the shade emits light onto the mounting.
Very time typical for the 1970s and as a pair, they would be perfect for framing a doorway, or mirror – maybe for setting a cozy ambiance in a sitting area or in the bedroom as cozy bedside lights.
All original, but rewired with 1,5 m (4′ 11.1″) white plastic cord, fitted with on/off switch placed at convenient height at the cord and Euro style plug – which is easily changed to your specific plug. Tested and fully functional.
