Vintage oak edition with patinated cognac leather by Borge Mogensen for Fredericia Furniture in 1958 – in good vintage condition
SPANISH CHAIR by Børge Mogensen for Fredericia Furniture in 1958 – vintage edition with oak and original patinated cognac leather upholstery, in good vintage condition.
This is an iconic easy chair with its distinctive profile – solid oak frame and saddle leather seating and backrest. The seemingly simple, yet very strong and masculine expression demands perfect craftsmanship and attention to details, like the hand-stitching on the saddle leather and the brass buckles holding the leather slings in place underneath the seat and behind the back. The wide armrest cleverly double as a side table, while giving support for the arms. The saddle leather takes shape after your body to offer a comfortable seating position and the beautiful buckles on the backrest enabling (almost demanding) you to place it freely in a room to show it off.
Its leather seating and straight broad armrest makes for a really comfortable easy chair, and combined with its beautiful silhouette, the Spanish Chair is an excellent showpiece example of 1950s Danish design. It would fit in anywhere in the modern home, as a lounge chair, easy chair, or as an accent chair in your favorite area.
This is the vintage lacquered oak version with original cognac leather upholstery. It shows age-appropriate signs of age and usage (shown in the photos), and the leather has been cleaned and oil-treated (hence the darker cognac-color, which in time will become lighter again). One of the narrow straps that holds the leather slings near the buckles is not original.
