SERIES 7 CHAIR
Model 3107 chair by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen in 1955. Danish mid-century design – professionally restored white lacquered seat
WE HAVE 6 OF THESE ICONIC CHAIRS in white lacquer finish!!!
We have 6 original vintage (labeled production year 1995) Series 7 chairs, fully restored and re-lacquered in a silk semi-gloss white finish (the original Fritz Hansen white) – done by the premiere furniture lacquering company in Denmark – so essentially you will be getting a new white Series 7 chair, that is actually vintage, and you save approximately 40% compared to a new one : )
The Series 7 – Model 3107 chair is by far the most sold chair in the history of Fritz Hansen, and yet at the same time one of the most copied chairs of the modern era. A pressure-molded sliced beech veneer shell with an extremely attractive organic shape – just enough curvature to support the human body perfectly – and fitted on a steel frame with polished-chrome finish.
The SERIES 7 Chair was first introduced at the Helsingborg Exhibition of 1955 and is a further development of the classic Ant Chair (designed for the canteen at Novo Nordisk in 1952). It represents the culmination of Arne Jacobsen’s visionary work with stacking chairs made from pressure molded sliced wood with removable steel frame.
Arne Jacobsen made the Series 7 Chair as a response to the criticism the Ant Chair had received for not being “enough” and too much “less is more”, and as such it is also product by Arne Jacobsen NOT designed for a special project!
Still in production by Fritz Hansen in a wide variety of veneers, finishes and with upholstery – and still popular as ever! A perfect fit anywhere in the modern home. These chairs are truly timeless design icons!
