No. 222 Blue Fluted Plain serving dish with lid by Royal Copenhagen from sometime between 1889-1922. Large antique porcelain bowl
SOUP TUREEN, no. 222 by Royal Copenhagen from around 1900 – large antique Danish Blue Fluted Plain porcelain bowl in good vintage condition.
A truly beautiful serving dish in white glazed porcelain with matching lid, both decorated with cobalt blue floral pattern. The attractive curvy bowl features two elegant handles at the sides, whereas the elegant lid features a twisted mushroom-like handle.
This SOUP TUREEN is part of the Blue Fluted Plain series by Royal Copenhagen from 1775, the first ever pattern of Royal Copenhagen. Inspired by Chinese patterns, the Blue Fluted Plain is decorated with motifs of Chrysanthemum flowers (a popular motif in China at that time) and the Nordic cinquefoil flowers on bright white glossy fluted porcelain. The exquisite shapes and captivating cobalt blue decoration of the Blue Fluted Plain has proven the test of time, as it is still in production at Royal Copenhagen – this TUREEN is no longer in production.
It is hand painted (as all Royal Copenhagen pieces) and hallmarked underneath with a green back stamp with Royal Copenhagen logo, three blue waves, shape no. 222 and the painter’s signature. The back stamp tells us that this TUREEN is produced sometime between 1889-1922 and that it is A-grade.
Rare and beautiful SOUP TUREEN – an almost 100 years old piece – that would add class and style to any dining table setting or as display piece in the living room or kitchen.
