Wrought iron wall piece by DANTOFT Kunstartikler, 1960s. Artistic Danish mid century modern black wrought iron with glass
SCONCE wrought iron wall piece by Dantoft Kunstartikler, Denmark circa 1960s. Artisan wall piece in black wrought iron with a green glass stone in good vintage condition.
This sconce is made up of black lacquered, welded wrought iron in the shape of a flower with a heart of polished deep green glass stone. The glass stone is placed on flat circular plate onto which the ‘leaves’ of the flower emerges in five directions. In between in the leaves a thin wrought iron piece is placed to emphasize the flower shape. Towards the bottom the stem of the flower ends in a shallow candle holder, suitable for a large candle up to 3″ (7,5 cm) in width.
The green glass piece is carefully placed, so the flickering candlelight is reflected creating shadows along the leaf of the flower. A beautiful wall sculpture that would look amazing at the end of a long hall way or be a Danish mid century modern addition in the living space.
It was made by Dantoft, a company that had their heyday in the 1960s and 1970s. Dantoft designed wall sculptures in many different forms and shapes, some as candle holders and some as wall sculptures with shallow candle holder at the bottom. One theme connected all the wall sculptures; carefully arranged glass pieces – so light would be reflected in the many colorful glass pieces.
