Black wrought iron sconce with green glass stone by Dantoft Kunstartikler in the 1960s, in excellent vintage condition
SCONCE by Dantoft Kunstartikler, Denmark, 1960s – sculptural sconce in black wrought iron with a green glass stone, in excellent vintage condition.
A unique sconce made in curved black lacquered, welded wrought iron and a green thick glass stone in the middle. Above and below the glass stone, the sconce is decorated with swirls, and circular pieces. Three vertical black wrought iron strips act as a grid for the other overlaying bars and circles with the middle strip ending in bows towards the top and the bottom. The bow towards the bottom extends into a shallow candle holder – fit for a large candle for up to 3″ (7,5 cm) in width.
The green polished glass stone in the middle is placed to reflect the flickering candlelight and create shadows along the iron. A true vintage addition to any modern decor – and is sure to catch positive attention from your guests!
This wall sconce is made by Dantoft, a company that had their heyday in the 1960s and 1970s. Dantoft designed wall sculptures in many different forms and shapes, some as candle holders and some as wall sculptures with shallow candle holder at the bottom. One theme connected all the wall sculptures; carefully arranged glass pieces – so light would be reflected in the many colorful glass pieces.
