Wrought iron sconce by DANTOFT Kunstartikler, 1960s. Sculptural black wrought iron candle holder with turquoise glass stone in very good vintage condition
SCONCE – by Dantoft Kunstartikler, Denmark circa 1970s. Unique artisan work and wall candle holder in wrought iron with a large turquoise glass stone.
Black lacquered, welded wrought iron with an elongated shape with a large polished turquoise glass stone in the center. Nine arms shoot out from the center, each ending a small circle. Under the glass stone two circles add to the decoration. The bottom is made up by a shallow candle holder, suitable for a pillar candle up to 3″ (7,5 cm) in width.
The glass stone is placed so the flickering candlelight is reflected and thus creating shadows along the nine arms. A beautiful wall sculpture that would look amazing at the end of a long hall way or a vintage addition living space.
This sconce is made by Dantoft, a company that had their heyday in the 1960s and 1970s. Dantoft designed wall sculptures in many different forms and shapes, some as candle holders and some as wall sculptures with shallow candle holder at the bottom. One theme connected all the wall sculptures; carefully arranged glass pieces – so light would be reflected in the many colorful glass pieces.
Please note that I have a small number of different Dantoft SCONCES up for sale in the shop – among these one with the same design as this one, but with bright green glass – please check the shop!
