Black wall piece by Dantoft Kunstartikler in the 1970s. Black wrought iron wall sconce with red glass stones, for a pillar candle – in very good vintage condition
SCONCE by Dantoft Kunstartikler, Denmark circa 1970s. Unique black wrought iron sconce with red glass pieces, for a pillar candle – all in very good vintage condition.
Black lacquered, welded wrought iron in the shape of a sun with a heart of polished red glass stone. The glass stone is placed in a shallow bowl which extends in eight directions. Four of the arms ends in circles, each with a smaller polished red glass piece inside, and three arms ends in a spiked diamond shape, while the last arm ends in a shallow candle holder, suitable for a pillar candle up to 3″ (7,5 cm) in width.
The glass pieces are carefully placed, so the flickering candlelight is reflected, creating shadows along the eight arms of the sun. A beautiful wall sculpture that would look amazing at the end of a long hall way or a vintage addition living space.
The sconce was made by Dantoft, a company that had their heyday in the 1960s and 1970s. Dantoft designed wall sculptures in many different forms and shapes, some as candle holders and some as wall sculptures with shallow candle holder at the bottom. One theme connected all the wall sculptures; carefully arranged glass pieces – so light would be reflected in the many colorful glass pieces.
Please note, that I have a small number of different wall sconces by Dantoft in my shop – please check the shop!
