LARGE GULVVASE (20.3″)
Huge (20.3″) bottle-green Scandinavian modern glass floor vase by Otto Brauer in 1959 for HOLMEGAARD
LARGE GULVVASE (20.3″) by Otto Brauer in 1959 for Kastrup-Holmegaard – huge bottle-green Scandinavian Modern glass floor vase in good vintage condition.
This floor vase is made up of blown glass with a large cylindrical body, tall cylindrical neck and a wide flat rim. It measures 20.3″ in height and 8.7″ in diameter.
The GULVVASE (which is the Danish word for floor vase) was designed by Otto Brauer in 1959, a Master Glassblower employed at Kastrup-Holmegaard (the later Holmegaard) and was produced in transparent colored glass; olive green, amber and cobalt blue. A bit later on the color range expanded to included opal and towards the late 1960s they combined the opal and the transparent colored glass to create a wide variety of color combinations. It was available in five sizes; starting at 9.8″ (25 cm) going up to 20.3″ (51,5 cm).
With its beautiful mid-century silhouette and the gorgeous bottle-green color, it would easily fit in any room – in the hallway to create a burst of color or in the living for accenting a mid-century decor – perhaps a new addition to your collection of Danish mid century glass ware.
This is the largest version of the GULVVASE.
