FLAMESTONE COFFEE POT by Jens H. Quistgaard for Dansk Designs in 1958 – gorgeous tall fluted dark stoneware coffee pot – vintage edition and in very good condition.
A elegant stoneware coffee pot with a tall slightly hour-glass shaped body, a charming spout and a beautiful handle, shaped to fit perfect in the hand – the handle is echoed on the lid. The outer features a sandy dark gray, almost brown, matte glazed finish, while the inner features off-white porcelain. The upper half is decorated with a subtle fluted pattern, while the rest proudly show the beautiful dark rough finish.
This coffee pot is part of the FLAMESTONE dinnerware series, designed by Quistgaard around 1958, and introduced to the market as dinnerware, pretty enough to be served straight from the oven to the dining table without harming the surface underneath it – the first of its kind and it was quickly followed by a number of dinnerware series from Quistgaard and Dansk Designs. The smooth version of the FLAMESTONE was introduced in 1964. A new, updated version of the FLAMESTONE was introduced in 2008 by Dansk, now part of the Lenox Corporation along with a small number of other Quistgaard designs.
With its extremely appealing silhouette and understated elegance, this FLAMESTONE COFFEE POT has a timeless expression that suits both vintage and modern dining table settings. When not used, this beauty makes for a lovely Danish mid century display piece.
This FLAMESTONE COFFEE POT is the is vintage edition and produced before 1965.
