Large cast iron candelabrum by Jens Quistgaard for DANSK Designs in the late 1950s – box of new tapers included, in excellent vintage condition
CANDLE TREE, no. 1419 by Jens H Quistgaard for Dansk Designs in the late 1950s – Mid-century Modern Danish cast iron candle holder with box of new white tapers included, in RARE excellent vintage condition.
An elegant cast iron candelabrum, comprised of 7 droplet shaped holders for tapers (thin candles with a diameter of 0.6″ / 1,5 mm), separated by polished brass pieces, and a circular base and a smart handle-top, all fitted on an inner metal rod. The inner rod enables each holder to alter position, thus giving you the opportunity to change the look of the candelabrum. The base is fitted with a green felt piece to avoid scratching to the furniture on which it stands. Inside the base is hallmarked Dansk Designs Denmark.
The cast iron has a rough, black finish which is beautifully contrasted by the shiny golden brass, giving it a timeless expression. It would be an attractive Danish Mid Century design piece on display in the living on a credenza, or be used for special occasions or holidays, and be a true and authentic conversation piece that will fit any table setting.
Cleaned and treated to a careful curing process, to bring back the beautiful black cast iron color and prolong the life of the piece.
