About the design

Orient minor is a small to medium sized teardrop-shaped pendant with white inner coating for optimal reflection of the light. The top is made of teak and the bottom holds a plastic diffuser to soften the light emission.

The Orient was produced by Fog & Morup in two sizes – Orient minor with a diameter of 8.9″ (22,5 cm) and Orient major with a diameter of 15″ (38 cm). The Orient minor were offered in five versions differentiated by the lacquered finishes, which were – copper, aluminum, brown anodized, slate anodized and Sterling silver, all with teak at the top and plastic diffuser at the bottom.

Jo Hammerborg joined Fog & Mørup in 1957 and immediately began transforming the company’s product range. A catalogue from 1963 included 24 designs by Hammerborg, many of them are highly sought after today. Amongst them is the Orient.
