About the design

Optima 7 is the largest pendant in the Optima Series. The Optima Series is characterized by its soft lines with clear influence from space age design. The pendants in the Optima Series features an inner reflective screen, with a stylish red inner line, that provides an even, glare-free lighting in both high-hanging and low-hanging situations.

The lamp series was originally launched in 1972 at Fog & Mørup on Amagertorv, Copenhagen. It consisted of seven models: three pendant lamps with diameters of 20, 50 and 60 cm (Optima 5, 6 and 7), two floor lamps with one and two spots respectively (Optima 3 and 4), a table lamp (Optima 2), and a wall lamp (Optima 1). All models were painted white, with metal parts in matte chrome.

The brown and yellow versions followed in 1973. A litlle later in the 1970s a version with diameter of 35 cm was put on the market to bridge the gap between the 20 and 50 cm models.
