About the design

The Optima 6 is designed by Hans Due in 1972 and produced by Fog & Mørup.

It is a beautiful pendant characterized by its soft lines, clearly influenced by space age design – it features a large circular outer shade with a cylinder shaped top. Inside is features a inner reflective shade, with a stylish red inner line to provide an even, glare-free lighting in both high-hanging and low-hanging situations.

The Optima series were originally launched in 1972 at Fog & Mørup on Amagertorv, Copenhagen. It consisted of seven models: three pendant lamps with diameters of 20, 50 and 60 cm (Optima 5, 6 and 7), two floor lamps with one and two spots respectively (Optima 3 and 4), a table lamp (Optima 2), and a wall lamp (Optima 1). All models were painted white, with metal parts in matte chrome. A brown and a yellow version followed in 1973.

A little later in the 1970s, a version with a diameter of 35 cm was put on the market to bridge the gap between the 20 and 50 cm models.
