About the design

Optima 2 is a table lamp, a part of the lighting series, Optima – designed by Hans Due and produced by Fog & Mørup in 1972.

The Optima 2 is a beautiful table lamp with an adjustable white lacquered metal shade, on chrome plated arms and a heavy (for stability) white lacquered metal base. Features an on/off switch, placed at convenient height at the cord, which enables you easily switch on/off the light without getting out your chair.

The adjustable shades are characterized by the same soft lines as the OPTIMA pendants and have the same even, glare-free lighting experience as the pendants. Clearly influenced by space age design.

The lamp series was originally launched in 1972 at Fog & Mørup on Amagertorv, Copenhagen. It consisted of seven models: three pendant lamps with diameters of 20, 50 and 60 cm (Optima 5, 6 and 7), two floor lamps with one and two spots respectively (Optima 3 and 4), a table lamp (Optima 2), and a wall lamp (Optima 1). All models were painted white, with metal parts in matte chrome.

The brown and yellow versions followed in 1973.
