About the design

Opala – Absolute top tier Danish design, by world famous designer Hans J. Wegner. Simple, stunning and with Wegner’s signature curvature – this is a jaw dropping beauty!

The OPALA series was originally designed for Hotel Scandinavia in Copenhagen in three versions (pendant, floor and table version) and made in white opal high gloss acrylic with either white or black wet painted aluminum top.

The lamps quickly went into production at Louis Poulsen, and are still produced today (now by Pandul). The versatile applications of the light has paved the way for use in offices, public buildings and private homes alike – and even for large scale projects like e.g. the Churchill College i Cambridge by Architect Henning Larsen.

The pendant version was also produced in a MAXI size at one point, but these vintage editions are very rare to find. In the recent years, Pandul have launched a new version, the MINI OPALA.
