About the design

The No. 1036 is a blue table lamp by Einar Johansen for Søholm Stentøj in the 1960s.

It is part of a Series, called EJ64 or the Blue Series by Einar Johansen. The series was the first ever home decor stoneware Series produced at Soholm and became one of their greatest selling successes. As all pieces in the Series, this too is decorated with repetitively triangular shapes and covered with a wonderful blue toned glazed, designed by Svend Aage Jensen. The blue glaze spans over dark blue to light blue with hints of the underlying brown, almost golden tones. The neck is covered with sandy matte black finish, which makes for beautiful contrast to the glossy glaze on the body.

Underneath hallmarked Søholm Stentøj, Denmark, the signature of Einar Johansen (the designer behind several lights for Søholm in the period 1958-1968), and numbered 1036.
