About the design

The No. 1002 is designed by Einar Johansen for Søholm Stentøj in the 1960s.

It is a charming ceramic lamp-stand with a teardrop-shaped body, raised on a small round base, and a narrowing neck, all covered with a matte dark brown-grayish glaze. The body is decorated an embossed repetitive pattern of oval shapes inside a large rectangle, emphasized by the thinner layer of glaze which make the pattern appear almost light gray.

Underneath hallmarked with the signature of Einar Johansen, the designer behind several lights for Søholm in the period 1958-1968, and numbered 1002.

We have also seen this model with a powder-blue glazing.
