About the design

The Moon pendant by Verner Panton for Louis Poulsen in 1960.

10 thin white powder coated metal slats elegantly bent and placed on small chromed plated spacers to form a large spherical shape. Each slat is individually movable to let you have the complete control of the light emission.

The visually simple and extremely appealing form, hides a complex structure underneath the hood, and creates an absolutely amazing light when lit – the light is guided out between the slats, reflection onto the surrounding slats – giving a beautiful effect of altering light and shadow.

The Moon is one of the first lighting designs by Verner Panton and was initially produced by Louis Poulsen. Today it is produced by Verpan.
