About the design
The Helsingør pendel is designed by Danish architect Birger Schmidt in the 1960s, and put into production by LYFA.
It is a small metal pendant, made up of a cognac lacquered shade encircling a white lacquered inner shade, both pierced by two metal pieces to give stability and hold the bulb socket. The white inner shade features an upper cone shaped part, and a slightly smaller and less cone shaped lower part with cognac colored inner to give warmth to the emitted light.
When lit, the white inner shade emits light toward the sides, which is reflected by the cognac colored inner outer shade, but also upwards and downwards through the open top and bottom, making it for perfect for a small kitchen counter, or dining table. It could also create a cozy feel in the bedroom with its warm color combination and soft emission.
The Helsingør pendel was offered in two color combination – cognac/white and blueberry/white, and in two sizes; a small one (in the photos) and a large one.
