About the design

H. 62 or ABO MAG is produced by ABO Randers in the early 1960s.

The ABO MAG is originally designed by Hans Jørgen Berthel (the owner of ABO Randers) in the early 1960s, and later reproduced by several Danish and Italian producers with subtle changes to the design, among them Frandsen Lighting and E.S.Horn. It was available in a variety of different colors and hung in many homes in Denmark throughout the 70’s and 80s. ABO Randers sold over 2 million ABO MAG wall lamps in Denmark alone (with a population of 5 million at that time) – that is true democratic design!

The genius of this light is the magnet which holds the lamp in place and allows you to easily adjust and point the light where you need it – for excellent reading light – over the bed or your favorite chair. It could also be used as a table lamp, as you will find described elsewhere, but the original idea, is to mount it on the wall using the screw hole in the middle of the magnet.

Here, in the H. 62 version, the size is slightly larger than the colored version (H. 63).
