About the design

The Formland 4 is a floor lamp designed by Sidse Werner and Leif Alring for Fog & Mørup in 1970.

This very charming floor lamp is comprised of a round metal base, ending in a half circle towards the neck and a domed shaped cream-white butyrate (a chemical modification of cellulose with great light transmitting abilities) top, attached to the base by three cream-white pins, piercing the top of the base.

The delicate colors and the wonderful organic shape gives this floor lamp lots of personality with clear reference to space age design.

Formland is a Series of four lights, designed by the two Danish designers Sidse Werner and Leif Alring in 1970 – with the help of Jo Hammerborg, head of design at Fog & Mørup, which produced the Formland Series. The Series consisted of four lights, two sizes of pendants (Formland 1 & 2), a table lamp (Formland 3) and a floor lamp (Formland 4). They were produced with white, red, yellow or turquoise bases and cream-white tops. Werner and Alring (and the helping Hammerborg) were keen parachutists, and clearly inspired by their common interest.

The design won the iF product award in 1971.
