About the design
This Flower pendant, or Blomster Kegle pendel in Danish by Svend Aage Holm Sørensen for LYFA in 1972.
It is a large slightly cone-shaped metal lamp with a bright colored outer and white inner. It features a charming indented floral decoration along the lower half of the shade, which let the emitted light escape through. The top is almost closed off by a circular white metal plate with an on/off switch, while the bottom is wide open. Originally it also has a plastic diffuser at the bottom (lacking in the photos here).
Its shape ensures that most of the emitted light is guided downwards through the open bottom, but some light escape through the top and gives some upward directed light too. When lit, the decorative flowers come to life, adding a charming effect while giving warmth to the ambiance.
It was produced by LYFA in four colors: yellow, white, red and turquoise.
