About the design

The Ergo is a Plexiglas pendant light by Bent Karlby for ASK Belysning in 1971.

A Danish space-age lamp, cast in Plexiglas with a colored outer shade and white inner shade. The outer shade is hemispherical and conceal the upper half of the inner shade. When lit, the outer shade turns almost warm in the tone, while the inner shade turns bright white. Together they create a soft ambient light upwards and sideways, whereas the downward directed light is more bright in the ambiance.

Bent Karlby and ASK Belysning collaborated for a brief period in 1970 and 1971, as Karlby designed a lighting series in Plexiglas. Among these are the Ergo, the Fakta and the Pan (in new material and new colors).
