About the design
The Apollo 240 pendant light is designed by Lars Schiøler for Hoyrup Light in 1960.
It is a beautiful 1960s lamp, cast in white plastic and folded to form a circular shape with embossed lines towards the top and bottom. A narrow rounded brown plastic band emphasizes its middle and is echoed around the open top and bottom. Inside it conceals a clear plastic tube in which the bulb socket is placed, which ensures that the light is evenly distributed along the entire white plastic shade.
When lit, the thin white plastic creates a diffused light to the surrounding room. Open towards the top and bottom, which gives way for upward and downwards directed light.
The Apollo 240 appears in the first catalogue from Hoyrup Lighting in 1960.
