About the design

This Apollo 270 is designed by Lars Schiøler for Hoyrup Light in 1960.

It is beautiful lamp, cast in white plastic and folded to form a circular shape with waves towards the top and bottom. A narrow rounded brown plastic band emphasizes its middle and is echoed around the open top and bottom. Inside it conceals a clear plastic tube in which the bulb socket is placed, which ensures that the light is evenly distributed along the entire white plastic shade.

When lit, the thin white plastic creates a diffused light to the surrounding room. Open towards the top and bottom, which gives way for upward and downwards directed light – perfect for hanging over a dining table or kitchen table. It could also be a charming light over a sitting area in the living room.

The Apollo 270 appears in the first catalogue from Hoyrup Lighting in 1960 and is very similar to the Apollo 240 with subtle changes to the texture.
