About the design
The bo-561 lounge chair was designed by Fabricius & Kastholm in 1963, and produced by bo-ex.
Even though designed in 1963, this lounge chair continues to be an extraordinary modern and desirable piece. A slightly backward tilted seat and back with leather cushions – just enough softness and curvature to support the body perfectly. Fitted on a brushed steel frame the super attractive L-shaped seating, and the slim steel frame gives the chair it’s characteristic and open personality.
Following in the traditions of the Barcelona Chair (1929) by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, and the PK22 (1956) by Poul Kjærholm, it differs by having that special Fabricius & Kastholm style – pure, minimalist expression with exceptional subtile details – like the way the seat and back floats in between the steel frame, and the legs which are slightly raised from the floor by four tiny black feet.
The bo-561 is no longer in production, and as most of the other timeless designs by Fabricius & Kastholm, it is a highly sought after vintage lounge chair today.
