About the design

This piece is produced by Dantoft Kunstartikler, Denmark circa 1970s.

It is made of black lacquered, welded wrought iron in the shape of a sun with a heart of polished red glass stone. The glass stone is placed in a shallow bowl which extends in eight directions. Four of the arms ends in circles, each with a smaller polished red glass piece inside, and three arms ends in a spiked diamond shape, while the last arm ends in a shallow candle holder, suitable for a pillar candle up to 3″ (7,5 cm) in width.

The glass pieces are carefully placed, so the flickering candlelight is reflected, creating shadows along the eight arms of the sun.
