About the design

Hippopotamus figurine, no. 20239, is designed by Knud Kyhn in September 1930 and produced by Royal Copenhagen.

A stoneware figurine, molded as a roaring hippo with a wide span of colored glazed – from light green, almost sand to dark brown. This hippo is hallmarked on the bottom with a green Denmark stamp (Royal Copenhagen stamp used on figurines), three blue waves, number and the signature KK for Knud Kyhn.

Knud Kyhn have designed a large number of stoneware figurine, featuring animal – among his most famous is the chocolate brown glazed Bear Cubs and the greenish glazed animals.
