Large wall sconce by Holm Sorensen, 1960s. Brutalist style brass wall lamp in RARE excellent vintage condition
TYPE 5195 - large brass wall sconce from the 1960s by Svend Aage Holm Sorensen - rare large Brutalist style wall light in excellent vintage condition.
A beautiful large wall light comprised of five serrated and flame-treated brass pieces, each shaped like an elongated leaf and placed on a small "hook" on a round metal base. The leaf are placed in two tiers - three pieces placed slightly in front of the other two, leaving just enough space to let light escape through them. They are arranged by numbers, each leaf feature a number on it's back, and is placed on the matching hook-number on the base.
When lit, the light is emitted through the narrow space between the leafs, which gives an almost dramatic effect on the wall due to the serrated edges. Combined with the flame-treatment, that brings out a wondrous specter of colors, this TYPE 5195 creates a beautiful light-pattern in the evening and is a dazzling sculptural light in the daytime.
A vintage Holm Sorensen piece that would look amazing hanging on a end-wall in a long hall way, or accenting your favorite area with it's intriguing Brutalist style.
