Bjarne Bo

Bjarne Bo

Born: 1943

Bjarne Bo, Bjarne Bo Andersen, is a Danish designer and architect, whose products are easily recognizable in the regular geometric shapes, in the typical 60s design. Other products are very Nordic, and so much a part of our everyday lives, that we do not always realize, that it is a Bjarne Bo design, we interact with.

Bjarne Bo is known for the square Rosti dishes and Handelbanken’s (a Danish Bank) piggy bank; a blue elephant with the name Haakon. The elephant was designed by Bjarne Bo himself and Henrik Mikkelsen in the 1970s.

His futuristic polyurethane lights for Fog & Mørup, entitled Data 1 and Data 2, were awarded with an iF product design award in 1971.
