About the design
A large stoneware lamp stand, No. 964 by unspecified designer for AXELLA Design in the 1970s.
This attractive stoneware lamp stand features a large ball shaped body with a band incised around its waist, and a tall cylindrical neck. Above and below the incised band on the body, it is decorated with a beautiful matte glaze in brown nuances, spanning from light and pale brown to deep dark and earthy brown. The deep dark brown glaze is also used to create an illusion of a collar on the neck.
The rest of the lamp stand is covered with a light sand, almost creme-white colored glaze, matte as the brown nuances. The shade, shown on the photos is included, but no original to the lamp stand – but it is contemporary and suit the light sand color and as well as the dark brown color in the glaze.
Underneath hallmarked AXELLA design, stentøj (meaning Stoneware in English), and numbered 964.
